What Will I Need?
A statement of philosophy
- This is a statement of your teaching philosophy. What are your teaching methodologies, how do you discipline, and do you have any special techniques you use in the classroom. You should give a great deal of thought to this statement. There isn't a standard as to length but it is suggested that it be no more than 2 pages.
Copies of Accredition
- The "official" part of your portfolio. It may include a copy of your teaching license, certificates of completion of any recently attended seminars or graduate courses, letters of recommendation or commendation, and any honors received.
Your creative classroom
- You have creativitity and class. You might include a sample lesson plan, creative handouts, pictures of your classroom, pictures or letters from students or parents, and any special committee's you've lent your assistance to.
Evidence
- Objective evidence is probably the most difficult to obtain. Most testing will not evaluate you as an educator, but the students and their level of knowledge. Although this evidence is not absolutely necessary, it does give you an added benefit that many others do not have. If you have one at your disposal, it is suggested that you obtain it.
